September Fishing In the Valley

Well September is in full swing and the fishing is nothing short of amazing. The pinks are here and the river is teeming with them.  Pink Salmon are eager biters making it great fun for everyone , taking everything from flys to jigs.

The water temperature has gone down considerably, and the sturgeon fishing has picked up significantly, double digit days are becoming quite common, and there are some BIG fish around. the sturgeon are enjoying the pink salmon feast that September has to offer, and fishing is only going to get better as we progress into October.

Chinook fishing has also been strong with most fish averaging 15 – 20 lbs. with a few pushing the 30lb. mark. We have been fishing these river beasts with spin’n’glos , kwikfish plugs, and spinners. This is a game of patience, we park on the travel lanes and wait for them to come. I don’t think you could describe a Chinook bite in any other way than it is a violent assault on the lure. Often line is being ripped off the reel before anyone knows what’s happening. One of my personal favorite species to fish for.

With all the fishing opportunities that September has to offer, coupled with the good weather, now is a great time to get out. If you are thinking of getting out for some fishing , don’t hesitate to give us a call, we still have some space available. We are also booking dates in October for Coho and Sturgeon, don’t miss out!
